Martial arts is something I’ve loved since I was around five years old and watched Sunday kung fu cinema on television. I suppose it was then that I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I got older, a teacher of Martial and combative arts. I didn’t begin this journey until I was ten years old, but since then, I have not let up on learning, training, and growing.
In my about (About Lord Cook), you will see some of the achievements in the Martial arts that I’m very proud of, and after 32 years, I am still a student. I have studied numerous systems, I am still learning new techniques and styles myself, but I have taught Martial arts since I was sixteen years of age. I love the martial arts, it’s as much a part of my life as any facet, for the health, self-defense, and discipline benefits alone it’s been well worth it.
When I say Martial arts, I am talking about all combative sciences, from boxing and wrestling to karate and kung fu and all points in-between. I am someone who has always known that I’d be a martial artist and a teacher, and who simply enjoyed the training and meeting new martial artists. Martial arts are something that will follow me long into my golden years and as I’m now in my 40’s, I don’t feel a day over 30!
2020 was a tough year, but it is one that saw me finalize Cook’s Kenpo Karate and get recognized as a Shodai Soke by the International Black Belt Association. My system is one that grows, as I do, and as I learn and expand, so will Cook’s Kenpo Karate. I am (as of writing this) in the process of setting up the Hombu dojo of Cook’s Kenpo Karate and will keep everyone here notified as to when it’s up and running.
